Holyrood Abbey

This is adjacent to Holyrood Palace, the Royal Residence in Edinburgh. It was originally Mary Queen of Scot's residence, James I of England, her son was the first English King to use this residence.
The original abbey was built by Scots King David I in 1128, but the ruin of the building that remains today was first constructed 1322. It was burned and built many times, due to Protestant v. Catholic scrimages... these bloody people,, Just kidding! Anyway, Walking around this ruin I pictured myself in the Highlander, remember no battling on Holy Ground... the energy of years of turmoil just ooze out of this place.
