My own wee archeological dig...

It's been 70F degrees here and lovely for over a week now, and I've spent loads of time in the garden, planting and transplanting, (it's been pretty much untended for 2 years, but has some nice things in it.) But now it looks lovely if I do say so myself.

But yesterday was the most interesting afternoon, after working from 9-4, I stopped by the garden store on my way home and picked up some more flowers and compost etc... headed home to tend the garden. I would have at least 4-5 hours to putter since it stays very light until 10pm or so.

So, I'm planting away enjoying the evening, listing to Vivaldi blast from the conservatory, long handled spade in hand, digging up some dirt to fill containers and I came across an unexpected treasure... A cat skeleton!

Then my focus switched from pistons and petals to decomposition and discovery....
I couldn't find all the bits but rinced them off none the less and saved them in a plant pot. They are now sitting in the shed to be shown off to any interested parties. Figured the kids on the lane might think it's cool,... this kid thought it was... morbid but marvelous!

Never seen a cat's skeleton. I was amazed at the delecate structure and similarity to those of the cows at the farm... I guess we all ain't nothin' but mammals.
