Festival Fireworks 2007

Edinburgh Festival Fireworks, Kirstin ( in her unending impeccable forsight) got tickets at the beginning of the festival, not that you can't see them from elsewhere, but it's nice to be part of the actual event.

The Last Day of the Edinburgh Festival there are these fantastic fireworks in Princes Street Gardens, with the Castle as the backdrop, and the Symphony plays live..... this year the theme was AMERICA!!! how funny! The choices of music (other than Gershwin and Sousa) weren't exactly what I would think of as representative of "American," but it's what the Brits relate to America. It was fantastic!!. The best fireworks, I've ever seen... seriously. They were choreographed to perfection. I can only imagine what (ridiculously extortionist) taxes paid for it, but hey, I don't pay British taxes and considering it was honouring America, I couldn't help but enjoy. It was reminiscent of Shakespeare in the Park, or the Whittaker Festival at MoBotGardens... everyone had their cutesy blankets and baskets and humous and cheese etc, etc, etc.... Perfect ending to an ABSOLUTELY perfect summer in Scotland. Now into the dark days of a short autumn and 6 hours of sunlight a day.... but who's counting...... ;-)
